Prof. Dr. Ersoy Kocabıçak became a faculty member at the Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Medicine after completing his specialization in Brain and Neurosurgery. He completed his training in Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery at Maastricht University in the Netherlands. Following his doctoral thesis entitled “Deep Brain Stimulation in Parkinson’s Disease” at the same university, he obtained his PhD degree in Neuroscience. He played a role in the establishment of the Neuromodulation Center, which was first set up at Ondokuz Mayıs University, bringing together scientific disciplines working collaboratively on movement disorders, psychiatric diseases, and pain surgery under one roof, and was appointed as the head of the center. In addition to general neurosurgery practices, his professional and scientific interests include movement disorders, epilepsy, brain tumors, and the surgery of psychiatric diseases. He is currently a faculty member in the Department of Brain and Neurosurgery at Ondokuz Mayıs University. He also serves as a visiting consultant faculty member at İstanbul Atlas University on certain days of the week.

Prof. Dr. Ersoy Kocabıçak has over 100 international and national articles and presentations on deep brain stimulation for movement disorders, epilepsy, and psychiatric diseases. He is a founding member of the International Deep Brain Stimulation Society and currently serves as a board member and the representative for Turkey. He is part of the editorial team of the Deep Brain Stimulation journal. He also presides over the National Deep Brain Stimulation Society. Additionally, he holds a committee position in the Stereotactic and Functional group of the European Society for Brain and Neurosurgery. He has served two terms as the secretary, one term as the vice president, and one term as the president of the Stereotactic Functional Pain and Epilepsy Surgery Training and Education Group of the Turkish Neurosurgical Society.

Furthermore, he has served two terms as a board member of the Neuromodulation Research and Education Society. He offers consultancy and training services for deep brain stimulation surgeries to universities and hospitals both in Turkey and abroad. Beyond the aforementioned societies, he is also a member of international associations such as the World Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery, the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society, the International Neuromodulation Society, and the Mediterranean Neuroscience Society. To date, he has held positions as chairman or committee member in numerous international and national organizations related to stereotactic and functional neurosurgery.

He has given over 80 invited lectures at scientific and social meetings on his area of expertise.
